Drew Young, Patryk Drozd, and Nick Pound founded Snag in 2012 to make underground art accessible. The weekly event exposed Vancouver’s emerging and established artistic talent, celebrating and escorting hundreds of artists into the public sphere. The nature of the event – live art painting and a subsequent raffle of pieces ushered thousands of works into homes across the Lower Mainland.

Snag changed management in 2018 when Alejandro Chavarria and Ian Kaart (Vancouver Art Community) took the reins. In 2020, through fluctuating public health regulations, busy schedules, renovations, and life, the creative spectacle was put on pause.

After a 2 year hiatus, Ian Kaart decided it was time to bring Snag back. The event returned bigger and brighter than ever, back where it all started, The Cobalt. November 24th, 2022 marked the first show back on solid ground. Since then, Snag has continued to scout the best underground talent that Vancouver has to offer.
